Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 Beta Impressions

Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 Beta Impressions.
Blog.
June 21, 2018                           Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 is a new mobile game for Android and iOS and is developed by Sega based on the rpg/horror gaming franchise of Atlus.
The series is one of my favorites as it allows you to catch, collect, combine and battle demons based off various mythologies and legends, .

Kinda like Pokemon but less targeted to younger audiences
Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 features a gacha monster acquisition system

turn based battles and other features you would expect from a console Shin Megami Tensei game.
Which is why i was very excited to know that i got chosen to play in the closed beta testing phase.
Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 Gameplay Video  The Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 CBT starts off as you would expect, the protagonist is thrust into a storyline of intrigue and mystery that needs him to battle demonic forces and save the world.
Very generic.

You might say but on a more interesting note – just like in the SMT console games

more game features are unlocked once you have progressed enough into the game – such as Combine, Multi-Combine, Aura Gate – a SMT Strange Journey like mode where you grind to get materials needed for combining monsters, Skill combination, Daily Quests and other staple features of modern mobile RPG games meant to keep you grinding away.
The art style is beautiful, with 2D designs for the human characters and detailed 3D models for the demons, complete with attack and idle animations.
And as with similar mobile games, each stage or match, usually takes a few seconds to complete with some stages having bosses that give out more exp and loot.
Don’t expect a lot of complexity in level design early on, and battles basically boil down to if you can exploit your opponents elemental/type weakness while defending your own.
Overall, I am having a great time with Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 as i really like the setting and mechanics.
The game plays fast but gets more complex the more you play it.
The biggest issue i have during the CBT is that the game crashes or gets disconnected quite often and it is quite frustrating.

But that is what the CBT is for – to iron out bugs and instability issues

Recent builds have been a bit more stable than the first ones i tested, so fingers crossed they can stabilize the game before the official launch.
